Terms of Use
Last updated: June 01, 2026
Agreement
These terms govern your use of the Detox app for macOS and this website. By downloading or using Detox you agree to them. Detox is distributed exclusively on the Mac App Store, so Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where these terms conflict with it, Apple’s EULA prevails.
What Detox does
Detox scans folders you explicitly grant for reclaimable disk space and, only after your confirmation, removes the items you selected. The default removal action moves items to the Trash, where they remain recoverable until you empty it. Permanent delete is an explicit, opt-in choice and cannot be undone.
Your responsibility
You decide what gets removed. Detox shows every item, its path, and its size before any Clean, and nothing is removed without your confirmation. Review your selection before confirming — especially items you selected manually from Inventory (personal files, toolchains, runtimes) and any use of Permanent delete.
Removing developer artifacts (caches, build products, dependencies) is safe in the sense that they regenerate, but regeneration takes time and bandwidth. Keep backups of anything you cannot afford to lose; Time Machine or an equivalent backup is strongly recommended regardless of any cleaning tool.
Free and Detox Pro
The app is free to download and includes one lifetime Clean. Detox Pro is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase that unlocks unlimited Clean. It is not a subscription and never renews. Purchases are processed by Apple; prices may vary by region and may change for future purchasers. Use Restore Purchases to bring Detox Pro to your other Macs signed into the same Apple Account.
Refunds
All payments are handled by Apple, so refunds are too. Request one through your App Store purchase history at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds directly.
No warranty
Detox is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We work hard to make Detox cautious by design, but we do not guarantee it is free of errors or that it will recover any particular amount of disk space.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss of data, loss of profits, or any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Detox. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Detox Pro, if any.
Acceptable use
Don’t reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the app except as permitted by law and Apple’s EULA. Don’t use Detox on systems you are not authorized to administer.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top reflects the latest revision; continued use of the app after a revision means you accept the updated terms.
